P90X (the "X" is for Xtreme!)
by: Velophile
January is here, the Christmas stuff is all put away (in record time) and the thoughts of spring cycling training are beginning to fill my mind. New Year's resolutions are for those who can't keep it up year round, so of course I made a few, but this year, it doesn't mean getting on the indoor trainer! Well, at least not yet!
This year, Krissy and I are committing ourselves to a home fitness program known as P90X. I borrowed it from a Cycling friend of mine who, while doing this program, described pain in places you don't typically associate with having pain? This is a 13 week program designed to confuse your muscles, 13 weeks, 7 days a week—relentless.
When you open the book, the first words you see are "Embrace the Struggle". Right off you know you are in for a world of hurt.
We begin on Monday January 11. Why not start on a Monday? I will keep you posted on how it is going, and make sure you follow my Twitter @velophile where I will post my "Pain of the Day" to describe what happens to be hurting that day.
I'm not sure what to expect as far as results, weight loss, etc— What I do hope for, however, is to whip my body into a routine that accepts the need to put it through more. So, now, it is time to "Embrace the Struggle"! Wish us luck.
